I want to make art that moves people
I’m Vanessa, a documentary photographer and creative mind with a deep curiosity for people and the way they move through the world. What started as a volunteer stay in Ghana has grown into a way of seeing, working, and connecting.
I was born in the Alps and grew up doing combat sports which shaped how I move through life. I still seek that energy in surfing, skating, running… That’s also where my latest project Southpaw comes from.
Later I moved to Vienna to study design. It gave me tools, language, structure but it was also where I started to question things. Myself included.
Spending time in Ghana changed something in me. I went there to volunteer, but I stayed longer in thought than I did in time. I observed a lot. Slowed down. Let things affect me.
I started out photographing weddings and private portraits. I still do, but more selectively now, when it feels right and I can bring myself into it.
My heart lies in the work I create for myself. Social and travel documentaries where I move along visually with the questions that life raises. That’s what gives meaning to what I do.
Now I live close to where I grew up, surrounded by mountains and quiet. I still design, I still create: but more from within now.

I approach photography with care, respect, and awareness of its power. I work to photograph with dignity, provide context, and ensure responsible use beyond the shoot. Everything, from pricing to communication and delivery, is handled thoughtfully and appreciatively. I focus on daily life and its subtle beauty, avoiding shock-driven media, and aim for storytelling that informs and resonates on a deeper level.

I have worked as a photographer for six years with clients ranging from corporate, weddings, families, events, NGOs, to newspapers. I bring a diverse skill set including photography, film, film development, bookbinding, editorial work, design, and creative direction. I hold a BA in Visual Communication and Design, but most of my expertise comes from self-driven learning: reading, podcasts, experimentation, reflection, and staying open to new ideas.

I create print and art books, coffee table books, magazines, and analog photography. I wander, experiment, and translate my inner world into visuals: a non-spoken language. My passion projects explore sports, female activism, and the beauty of everyday life. Much of this work is personal, stories no one has seen before, guided purely by my own drive. I love sharing these projects because they can give others a voice, offer a different perspective, or challenge the usual narrative: Changing the Narrative.
